The Higher Grounds Podcast is designed to Edify the Christian in a practical way. Encourage pastors in a profitable way, and Educate citizens politically. The HGP is dedicated to doctrinal purity and a passion for holiness. HGP places great emphasis on the exposition of Scripture as well as engaging the culture. HGP will report on the Issues of the day in light of God’s Word. It is the goal of HGP to be informative and interesting while maintaining Godly Integrity.
Meet the Hosts
Pastor Andy Wells
Dr. Andy Wells is the pastor of the Galilee Baptist Church in Monroe, NC and has served as their pastor since June of 2001. Pastor Wells is an expositional preacher and teacher of the Word of God. Pastor Wells, in addition to his passion for pastoring, preaches as an itinerant, in revivals, Bible conferences, and camps around the nation. GBC has numerous ministries and meetings which are geared toward pointing people to the worship of the Lord. The GBC Youth Camp has ministered to many young people since 2002. Dr. Wells has a passion for teaching and training young men for the ministry. The Galilee Baptist Church, under Pastor Wells’ direction, has ordained numerous preachers for the pastorate. Pastor Wells taught for 5 years at the Carolina Baptist College before joining the faculty of Grace Baptist Bible Institute in 2010. Pastor Wells’ other interests include politics where he serves as the director of Faith Engagement for the South Carolina GOP. He has also served as a law enforcement chaplain for various agencies and is currently serving the Chesterfield County Sheriffs Department. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing. Dr. Wells and his Wife Beverley have been married since 1985 and have 5 grown children and 6 grandchildren. The Wells’ reside on a hobby farm in Pageland, SC.
Pastor Michael Poindexter
Pastor Michael Poindexter was born December 4, 1976 in Asheboro NC. He was born again September 6, 1998 at Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Denton, NC. Shortly after being saved the Lord began to deal with Pastor Poindexter about his call to preach. As many other men can testify, he ran from the call initially, but after about two years finally surrendered. After training for a few years at his home church, he felt lead of the Lord to start a church in Seagrove NC. The building was secured in Feburary of 2005. After about four weeks of renovating the property and knocking on hundreds of doors with the help of many precious friends and co-labours, the first service of the Lighthouse Baptist Church was held. Starting with just his family, the work in Seagrove has been greatly blessed of the Lord. Bro. Michael graduated from Calvary Baptist Bible College in King NC in 2013. He is married to Rikki Beth Poindexter and they have five children: Seth, Julianna, Lydia, Jacob & Micah
Pastor Steven Aldridge
Bro Steven Aldridge was born May 23, 1981 into a preacher and pastors home and raised in the house of God and around the ministry. At age 14 he was born again at Light on the Mountain Youth Camp on June 23, 1995. Two weeks after giving his heart to Jesus, he knew God wanted him to be a preacher and announced his call to preach at the same youth camp. Bro. Aldridge has been the pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Pageland, SC since May of 2007. Attending High School in Pageland he now has the privilege of pastoring in his home town. Bro. Aldridge along with his wife Crystal have a heart and burden for young people not to just be saved or wait until adulthood to serve God. They spend their summers working in youth camps. The Lord has blessed Bro. Aldridge with 3 children Lydia, Seth, and Haven who are also involved in the Lord’s work. Bro. Steven enjoys spending time with his family on trips, around the house, coaching his sons ball team, and ministering together.
